Broody Brooding Brooders
A downloadable game
You have two stats: BROODY and BROODING. Both start at 3. Use BROODY to peck, fly, eat, scratch, dig, incubate eggs, cluck, and generally do chicken stuff. Use BROODING to do anything not directly related to being a chicken.
You are egg-laying hens. Life was peaceful enough on your farm—you had plenty of grass and seed to eat, space to roam, cozy coops, and a reasonable enough rooster to watch for predators and resolve disputes—but there was always something dark about it that you couldn’t place. You were sure it had something to do with those constantly prattling apes who passed through the farm every day. Then, one broody morning, you caught them taking your precious eggs! (So that’s where they were going!) You followed them as far as the Great Iron Wall, but couldn’t get past. But you know where those eggs were taken, and you’re going to get them back!
This game is a hack of Grant Howitt's Honey Heist, with additional inspiration from his Goblin Quest. Thematically, it was inspired by a friend's yard chickens, and by the 2000 film Chicken Run.
Includes a simplified text version of the rules for screen readers.
